What to Know About China's Export Dominance
China’s car exports to foreign markets have increased significantly in the past four years, reaching five million cars last year. Chinese solar panels also dominate global markets. Even labor-intensive industries like furniture making are experiencing a surge in exports from China. However, American, European, Indian, and Brazilian leaders have expressed concerns about the overwhelming influx of Chinese exports. They worry that their own factories will struggle to compete with China’s efficient and automated manufacturing sector. To bypass trade barriers, Chinese companies are adopting indirect routes through Southeast Asia and Mexico while breaking shipments into smaller parcels to avoid tariffs. While electric car exports attract attention, the majority of China’s exported cars still have gasoline engines. These excess cars are finding markets in countries like Russia and Mexico.
